My name is James Burke. Here is a little bit about myself. I am a senior at UNCC. I am 22 years old and I was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. My major is in international studies and my minor is Russian. My favorite topic to study at the university level is the Russian language. I also like to travel and study abroad in different countries, while experiencing differnet cultures.

Purpose of This Portfolio

For my home page, I was also asked to describe the purpose of my portfolio. I wrote this portfolio to serve the purpose of.......
1. Improving the way I approach reading, questioning, and processing writing.
2. allowing me to reflect on my writing and my development as a writer
3. demonstrating my ability to think critically about rhetoric and rhetorical choices
4. expressing my determination, diligence, and desire to improve my understanding of creative writing
5. providing a demonstration of everything that I have learned about this semester.
6. being able to provide interesting and entertaining material for my readers.
7. helping my readers learn new concepts, new ideas,
8. encouraging my readers to think more creatively and asking new questions
What to Expect to Find While Going Through My Portfolio.............
Therer are several things that you should expect to see before you read my portfolio. First of all, you are going to be able to tell what my interests are based on what you read. I provide my best work when I am given the freedom to choose to talk about what topics interest me the most. My interest are, but are not limited to, movies, history, boxing, television, languages and comedy. You wil see my interests represented in my blogs posts, a rhetorical analysis, an inquiry project, and other works I have made in this portfolio. I especially provide a good amount videos that are designed to help my reders better understand the information in my portfolio as well as stay engaged. I also have a few clips that I hope some of my readers will find entertaining. You will also see some pictures of my family throughout my portfolio. I decided to post these pictures because my family will be tied into my over all "theme" of this portfolio. My family has had a heavy influence on what my interest are, my behavior, my character, my writing style, and what I enjoy writing about.
I was informed that I could provide a certain quote or
video that will help set up the context for my readers. Here is a clip that demonstrates how I feel about my writing and what kind of media my readers can expect to see in my portfolio.
I think that this quote helps set up the context of my portfolio for my readers. This is becuase ever since my childhood. the people in my family have influenced what my interests are, what I like to do, what my values are, what I like to write about, and what inspires me. Me and many of my family members have similar interest, styles of creativity, etc. Over the semester, I recognized that much of the inspiration for my writing came from topics and ideas that members of my family got me interested in from a very young age.
